What is our Story?

ExpressApps started out in 1989 as Dunson Pty Ltd, with a focus on delivering Computer based Process control solutions to the manufacturing sector.  We started from humble beginnings, converting the front half of the house to an admin office, workspace and workshop.

Manufacturers obviously have a high dependency on the efficiency and availability of their production equipment to operate profitably.  What they need is re-assurance that their equipment will continue to operate reliably day in and day out – today we consider our customer’s computer systems to be as important.

It is from this history of providing reassurance to our customers that our culture has been built around good design and fast response to problems, delivered from a team of focused, knowledgeable, experienced and caring staff.  We maintain that culture today with our willingness to provide well-designed network infrastructure and fast response to customer problems. We also take pride in the fact that our staff turnover is significantly lower than the industry average, yet at the same time we have some of the most skilled and highly sought after engineers in their fields.

Using the broad experience we had built up in Computer systems, around 1993 we moved our focus to implementing Novell and Microsoft based networks.  As our Windows Server networking experience built up we became a Microsoft Solutions Provider, one of the earliest to do so.

During this time we gained experience implementing enterprise level software, not only giving us a great understanding of software implementation processes, but also exposing us to the issues of delivering application access to remote users and the difficulty in maintaining local PC software updates.

This led us to evaluating the new technology called Winframe, from Citrix.  This clearly offered many of the advantages needed to offer centrally managed computer systems – later referred to as Server Based Computing.

In 1998 we became one of the first Citrix Gold Partners and we are now recognised as one of the best Citrix Solution Advisors and implementors in the country. We are also the founding member of the AsiaPac Thin Alliance enabling us to deliver services throughout Australia & NZ.

The Citrix technology immediately showed great attributes for centrally hosting and managing customer servers.  This encouraged us to attend the inaugural Application Service Provider (ASP) Summit in Florida and establishing our own hosting environment. From here we were accepted as one of the first Microsoft ASP partners and have been recognised by IDC as one of the Top 5 ASPs in the country.

Expressapps has regularly been sought out and recommended by Enterprise Customers and Integrators for our Citrix and Microsoft expertise. Our management of a complex hosted environment, now located at the AAPT date centre in Melbourne, has further enhanced our capabilities to the highest levels.

Our story is, of course, still unfolding.  We believe you get the best results and the best value when you use focussed specialists. Our focussed specialisation is the management and implementation of best practice Server Based Computing IT infrastructure. And we partner with other key specialists to deliver the best end-result.

Expressapps has now positioned itself to be the “Trusted IT Partner of Choice” for Server Based Computing, focussed on working with other partners to ensure a successful project for the customer.  That makes a good story for us both.
